The word brokenness may strike fear in some people, but it's really not a bad word.
God doesn't desire to break our spirits, but He wants to break that outer shell, the flesh that prevents Him from being all He wants to be in and through us. He wants to break off things like pride, rebellion, selfishness and independence. God wants us to be totally dependent on Him, and suffering seems to bring us to that point.

Notes from Sunday's Sermon, 4/24/2016.
Until the Bible is the authority over your life, you will always deal with disobedience.
The Bible must be my only and final authority.
Psalm 119:130 "The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple."
II Peter 1:20 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."
II Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." (prepares for service)
Goal of scripture is that you would know God and obey God - Not to bring emotion that comes and goes, nor just to have facts in your head.
I personally memorize scripture, in order for the Holy Spirit to bring back to my remembrance, in time of need.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the Power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13)
Amidst the chaos and the darkness that has gripped the world, it is challenging to focus on the promises of God. We are not without hope. There is a place of rest where you can have the peace of Christ despite your struggles and pains. Jesus said in John 16:33, "I have said these things unto you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. No matter how bad your situation seems, you must never lose hope. You have no idea what greatness God has planned for your life. God's wonderful plan for you cannot be hindered by setbacks and failures. He knew what you would face even before it happened to you. He is with you to see you through. What a great consolation! You don't have to face the storm alone. He is a very present help in time of need. Dear child of God, just stand in faith and see what God can do.

Happy Monday G+ Friends! I want to share something with you that was on my mind through the night. Matthew 5:47 "And if ye salute your brethren only what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary - Matthew 5: 43-48 The Jewish teachers by neighbor understood only those who were of their own country, nation, and religion, whom they were pleased to look upon as their friends. The Lord Jesus teaches that we must do all the real kindness we can to all, especially to their souls. We must pray for them. While many will render good for good, we must render good for evil; and this will speak a nobler principle than most men act by. Others salute their brethren, and embrace those of their own party, and way, and opinion, but we must not so confine our respect. It is the duty of Christians to desire and aim at, and to press towards perfection in grace and holiness. And therein we must study to conform ourselves to the example of our heavenly Father, 1Pe. 1:15,16. Surely more is to be expected from the followers of Christ than from others. Let us beg of God to enable us to prove ourselves his children. I wish each of you a prosperous and blessed new week.

What stronger consolation could believers desire than this? Whatever happens, they at least are never completely friendless and alone. #Christ is ever with them. They may look in the grave, and say with David, "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil, for you are with me." They may look forward beyond the grave and, say with Paul, "we shall ever be with the Lord." (Psalm 23:4, 1Thes. 4:17.) He has said it and he will stand to it, "I am with you always, even to the end of the world." "I will never leave you and never forsake you." We could ask nothing more. Let us go on believing, and not be afraid. It is everything to be a real Christian. None have such a King, such a Priest, such a constant Companion, and such an unfailing Friend, as the true servants of Christ. ~ J.C. Ryle - source:bibledevotionals.tumblr_nqlznlQCz1qbjeq7o1_540
